Domain -renewal- spam from domianren-dot-com
Posted by Roy Petersen on Jun-06-2011 04:02 PM
We've witnessed a new version of an old scam, in which the sender (domianren< dot >com) makes it look like you're receiving an invoice, when in fact it's an offer. The first half of the message leads you to believe your domain name is due for renewal, but much later on it explains it's for some service they're selling. They appear to be taking the domain registration information from various registrars in order to solicit for your business. The domain they are advertising in this has been registered for only a few weeks, and in that period has moved several times, probably as a result of this spamming and being disabled. Don't be fooled, folks, it's an ad and not something you need to pay. Here is the email received (edited to remove specifics and links):|
