What is the difference between POP3 e-mail account and an e-mail auto responder?

A POP3 e-mail account is a special kind of e-mail account that comes with a login and password. A POP3 account allows the user to send and receive new messages from this e-mail address. An e-mail auto responder does none of the above, and only responds to all incoming e-mail with a predetermined message.
